In the 1950s, the Kaohsiung Port Authority built its own "Kaohsiung Port Authority Single Quarters (Crew and Technician Waiting Room)" as a temporary residence for Port Authority employees waiting to work on ships. This three-story building covers an area of 3,100 square meters. The building is the waiting room. It carries a strong historical memory and labor culture. At that time, almost everyone who came to Kaohsiung came to conquer the world; they migrated like migratory birds, facing the strong winds of the world with their own hands. Adventurers who have been baptized by the ocean are heroes!

After years of baptism, the waiting room was later converted into a staff dormitory. After the lights were turned off, it remained idle for many years, witnessing the rise and fall of the Kaohsiung Port Area and the countless workers rushing around here. It is not only a building, but also a representative of the local historical memory and the result of the joint efforts of the people who struggled on this land.

Today, the waiting room still stands in Kaohsiung Port District. It is not only a witness of history, but also an important symbol of local culture. Stepping into it, it seems that you can hear the affectionate confessions of the years and feel the stories of countless people working silently on this land. The existence of this building continues the long history of Kaohsiung Port District. There are paintings of the Pier 2 Art Zone on the left wall. The waiting room will soon be revitalized into a new lodging space "PAPO'A Waiting Room" to continue to infuse this city. Irreplaceable vitality.
